Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin has helped fund an initiative supporting US businesses owned by military veterans and their spouses. The program, announced by nonprofit organization Hire Heroes USA, has awarded $10,000 grants to each of 25 businesses. Recipients will also receive training, resources, and assistance with expanding operations. According to Hire Heroes USA, the initiative aims to bolster veteran- and military spouse-owned businesses while creating new employment opportunities. “Veteran and military spouse-owned businesses are a critical source of innovation, job creation, and economic opportunity,” said Jonathan Perri, Ripple’s Director of Social Impact.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible businesses must be at least 51% owned by a US military veteran or military spouse, operate within the United States, and demonstrate a commitment to hiring veterans and military spouses.
Broader Philanthropic Efforts
The grants are part of Ripple’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and philanthropic effort, which has donated over $250 million globally to support universities, nonprofits, and social enterprises. Ripple has also secured partnerships with organizations such as Mercy Corps Ventures and the International Rescue Committee, and has pledged $25 million to DonorsChoose and Teach For America
