BlueScope, Australia's largest steelmaker, has reported a significant jump in its annual profit, with underlying net profit after tax more than doubling to A$851.2 million ($602.99 million) for the year.
The company attributes the growth to improved U.S. steel spreads and stronger performance from its Southeast Asian operations. This has enabled BlueScope to return a total of A$3 per share to shareholders in the 2027 financial year, including a final ordinary dividend of 65 Australian cents per share and a special dividend of 70 Australian cents per share.
Looking ahead, BlueScope has forecast underlying earnings before interest and taxes between A$860 million and A$960 million for the first half of 2027.
