Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Banking and Household sectors led shares lower. The Athens General Composite fell 0.83% at the close. Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA was the top performer, rising 2.99% to 58.60, while Bank of Cyprus Holdings PLC was the worst performer, falling 3.69% to 10.44.
Market Performance
The falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 67 to 37, with 28 ending unchanged. Shares in Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA rose to all-time highs, while shares in HELLENiQ ENERGY Holdings SA rose to 5-year highs.
Commodities and Currency
Gold Futures for December delivery rose 2.80% to $4,544.57 a troy ounce, while Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.12% to $85.00 a barrel. The EUR/USD was up 0.74% to 1.17, while the EUR/GBP remained unchanged at 0.86.
