Citi is preparing to add Bitcoin custody to its existing digital asset infrastructure, a move that further cements the bank's involvement in the rapidly evolving crypto market. The bank's Custody+ suite of tools will enable clients to access both traditional securities and crypto custody through a single framework. This expansion builds on Citi's existing infrastructure, which already processes over 80% of its asset-servicing events in real-time. The bank's Head of Custody, Amit Agarwal, noted that the launch is a response to the evolving needs of clients as the industry continues to move away from legacy architecture towards next-generation solutions. As major banks expand their digital asset businesses, Citi's move is part of a larger trend of institutional investment in crypto.
