Donald Trump recently met with crypto executives at the White House, where he revealed that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is working to make Hyperliquid accessible in the US within a legal framework. The meeting, held on August 19, sparked an 11% gain in the HYPE token. According to Trump, CFTC Chairman Michael Selig is actively working on integrating Hyperliquid into the US market. However, this does not constitute an authorization or a timeline for the platform's launch. Hyperliquid would likely need to register with the CFTC as a market or clearing organization to offer its products to US investors legally.
Regulatory Discussions
The CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee is set to meet for the first time to discuss cryptocurrency regulation, artificial intelligence, and predictive markets. This meeting confirms ongoing regulatory work but does not guarantee special treatment for Hyperliquid. Rumors also circulated on social media about a potential US acquisition of 'significant' amounts of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. However, no official announcement was made, and the White House and Treasury Department have not confirmed any purchase plans.
